Internationally renowned Chef Jacques Pepin celebrates 75th birthday with Classic French Croquembouche Cake, designed and made by Executive Pastry Chef Gerhard Michler.

Chef Gerhard Michler with Jacques' birthday cakeOn September 30, 2011, a 75th birthday celebration benefiting KQED and the production of Chef Jacques Pepin’s new TV series The Essential Pepin, was held at Chef Roland Passot’s restaurant, The Left Bank in Menlo Park.  The event featured a French themed five course meal topped off with an exquisite Classic French Croquembouche birthday cake, designed and made especially for Chef Pepin, by our very own Executive Chef Gerhard Michler

The evening was absolutely magical with over 150 members of KQED and fans of Jacques Pepin celebrating his 75th birthday, experiencing the joy of French culture and culinary arts, and toasting the launching of Chef Pepin’s latest TV show on KQED.

Jacques Pepin is an internationally renowned French chef, television personality in several highly acclaimed shows, and author of eighteen books.  The success of his book La Technique helped launch his acclaimed 1997 PBS series, The Complete Pepin.  Pepin also co-starred in the Emmy award winning 1999 PBS series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home with Julia Child, and starred in his shows Jacques Pepin: Fast Food My Way, and Jacques Pepin: More Fast Food My Way.  Jacques new TV series The Essential Pepin airs in the San Francisco Bay Area on TV station KQED.
